Marlon Pack got to lift two trophies at Fratton Park on Saturday afternoon – and they both meant a lot to him.
Pompey’s skipper was named The News/Sports Mail Player of the Season prior to kick-off, receiving the most votes from fans.
Then, after the final whistle had sounded in the final home fixture of the campaign against Wigan, he was presented with the League One silverware.
And Pack was delighted to follow in the footsteps of some of his own Blues heroes before celebrating with his team-mates and family.
He said: “These achievements are fantastic, but they are going to take a little while to properly sink in.
“Guys like Arjan de Zeeuw and Linvoy Primus have been Player of the Season and these are people I watched over the years.
"We’ve been getting closer and closer to the finish line over the past few week, so it was nice to be able to celebrate the achievement with all our fans."
“To be there among some of those names is amazing. Anyone of us could have received the award and it does give you a nice fuzzy feeling.
“I’d like to thank everyone who voted for me and tell them that it’s an honour playing for this great football club.
“The supporters see us on the pitch week in, week out and they’re clearly a very good judge of character!
“But the best thing about the day was definitely lifting the League One trophy because it was a real team effort.
“We’ve been getting closer and closer to the finish line over the past few week, so it was nice to be able to celebrate the achievement with all our fans.
“Tuesday night was all a bit of a blur – it was chaos. But this time it was nice to walk around the pitch with our families and share the moment with them.”
🏆 "It's great to share this moment with them"
